Rug spa’s have existed for sixty years across the nation, but no one in Northern Arizona has spent more time in the operation of cleaning fine Arizona area rugs than Thane Caird, owner of Premier Carpet Cleaning & Restoration. Mr. Caird is Northern Arizona’s area rug detail specialist, and has been cleaning fine area rugs since 2006.
To insure proper care and cleaning, we recommend cleaning fine area rugs in our concierge rug spa, as opposed to on-site cleaning. Premier sets the concierge standard of care for the finest Navajo, Persian and Oriental rugs in Northern Arizona.
The Premier Team will collect your rug and bring it to our special cleaning plant where it will receive our very thorough Nine Step Cleaning System for maximum soil and spot removal. Having your rug cleaned in our plant allows us to give it several treatments for a more thorough cleaning, controlled drying, and the use of various tools that are simply not available on location.

THE PREMIER AREA RUG CLEANING PROCESS:
STEP 1: PRE-INSPECTION & PICK UP
First, the Premier Team will determine as much as much as possible about the type of rug and inherent qualities that may affect cleaning. We will outline the expected results and cleaning “prescription”. Premier will come to your home to pick up your rug, or if you prefer, you may drop it by our shop any time between 10 – 4pm. Premier Carpet Cleaning & Restoration is located at 2720 Lakin Drive in Flagstaff, Arizona.
STEP 2: DRY SOIL REMOVAL
When needed, dry soil is removed by thoroughly commercial-power vacuuming. Removing dry soil is one of the most important steps in any textile cleaning process. Woven rugs, especially hand knotted rugs, are designed to hide dry soil. A few years ago, the Eureka company did a study and found that a 9 x 12 rug could hide 87 pounds of dirt! WOW! Premier uses a variety of techniques to “dust” the rugs from the front and back. Special vacuum attachments, a ‘pile lifter’ machine and any many other methods are implemented.
STEP 3: PRE-CONDITIONING
Depending on fiber content and soiling type, Premier will pre-treat the rug to emulsify the soils.
STEP 4: PRE-SPOT & FRINGE PREPARATION
Any potentially difficult spots will be pre-treated with special solutions to increase chances of removal. We also pre-treat the fringe is also pre-treated for maximum soil removal.
STEP 5: EMULSIFICATION
Depending on fiber content and soiling type, the rug will be pre-treated to emulsify the soils. Most rugs are cleaned with an Oriental Rug Shampoo that is especially designed to get maximum cleaning while protecting sensitive natural fibers and dyes.
STEP 6: RINSE
Depending on the type of rug, Premier will rinse the area rug with extraction equipment on both sides or wash it in a wash bath designed especially for fine rugs
STEP 7: SPEED DRY
Once the soil is rinsed away, the rug is dried flat or hung to dry in a controlled environment. Proper drying is essential to avoid unnatural shrinkage.
STEP 8: FINISHING
When the rug is dry, it will be combed and finished with soft horse hair grooming brushes that will never touch another type of carpet at any time. These grooming brushes are specially made for specialty rugs.
STEP 9: POST INSPECTION & HOME DELIVERY
Our cleaning specialist will give the rug a final inspection and release it for pick up or delivery. Your rug will be wrapped in clean, white, acid free paper to protect it from dust and environmental soils until it is delivered and placed according to your personal specifications.
ON large commercial cleanings, we send in a whole TEAM of trained & IICRC certified professionals in order to get a high-quality cleaning job done fast.
